Castle Gym Nottingham, founded in 1981, became a city icon known for its history and loyal membership. After facing closure in 2013, it was revitalised and grew into a destination for all. When the building’s new owners forced its closure, a new journey began. Castle Gym is now expanding to a facility five times larger in central Nottingham. Staying true to its inclusive ethos, the new gym will feature state-of-the-art equipment through a partnership with Primal Strength. Blending history with innovation, Castle Gym is set to become the UK’s most advanced super gym.

NOTTINGHAM’S LEADING FACILITY...SO FAR

January started with a letter announcing the closure of the old building, marking our transition. We found a new home for Castle Gym just 2 minutes away on Maid Marian Way, a building that had been empty for over 15 years. Such a large space we wanted to turn this site into something spectacular. Introducing a Premium Gym, Luxury Restaurant and Fin-Tech Office. The new building meant that we should have a fresh start for Castle Gym. Rebranding Castle Gym and introducing Milo’s & Aptitude. We ended the year by closing the old gym, paving the way for the new Castle Gym!

In 2023, designs for the new building were an ongoing process to meet changing needs. Legal challenges caused delays, but quotes for materials helped establish a clearer budget. A partnership with Primal Strength was also established for specialised gym equipment. The menu for Milo’s Restaurant was finalised, and a search for a head chef began. Additional designs for the Aptitude office space ensured a productive work environment. We continued refining our vision and working through every detail to bring the new Castle Gym to life.

Throughout 2024, significant changes were made, particularly expanding the gym floor to meet growing demand. Our mezzanine floor now covers the entire space from wall to wall. The restaurant was removed from the plans, saving over £250,000 and resolving building regulation issues. By the end of the year, approximately £1,000,000 had been invested in planning, design, and equipment procurement. Every decision ensured the best use of space and resources, helping us build a facility that meets both our ambitions and our members’ needs.

Construction officially began in January, with all designs finalised and permits secured. A large hoarding was put in place, generating excitement about the Castle Gym project. Thanks to careful planning, the team is ahead of schedule, attracting interest from potential business partners eager to collaborate. We’re looking forward to opening this summer. With everything now in motion, we remain focused on delivering the best gym experience possible, making Castle Gym a true standout in the industry.
